Battery management system (BMS) national standard issued in the United States/Canada

The CSA Group (CSA) has released a new American/Canadian national standard applicable to the safety of Battery management system (BMS).
The new standard CSA/ANSI C22.2 No 340 "Battery management system" is applicable to the Battery management system (BMS) composed of hardware and software, which is designed to monitor, control and adjust the electrical and thermal parameters of the battery pack to prevent Thermal runaway and other potential hazardous situations. The standard applies to Battery management system (BMS) installed in fixed applications (such as energy storage system and uninterruptible power supply) and LER applications.
This standard is not applicable to BMS used in portable applications and has been covered by the final product requirements standard including Battery management system.
The requirements of CSA/ANSI C22.2 No 340 are consistent with the requirements of Canadian Electrical Code Part II and US NFPA 70, and this standard has also been approved by ANSI as a US national standard.
